Privacy policy

The short version
sortrs collects as little as it can. You can browse and download free models without an account. The site shows no advertising and no third-party trackers; the one measurement cookie it sets is our own. The personal data it does handle comes from four places: ordinary web-server logs, our own measurement cookie, an account if you choose to create one, and Stripe if you leave a tip.
Server logs
Our hosting provider records standard request logs (IP address, browser type, the page requested, and the time) to run the site and to detect abuse. These logs are kept for a short period and are not used to build a profile of you.
Accounts
Accounts are optional and handled by Clerk, our sign-in provider. If you sign up, Clerk stores your email address, your name if you give one, and the sign-in method you choose. We use that only to sign you in and to show your details on your account page. Clerk's own privacy policy covers how it protects that data. You can delete your account from the account menu at any time.
Cart and orders
Your cart and any order you complete are stored only in your browser, so you can come back to the confirmation page. When you check out, the list of models in your cart is sent to the site to fetch their files, and the site counts which models were downloaded. That count is tied to the measurement cookie's random id, never to you by name. If you leave a tip, the list is also attached to the payment at Stripe.
Measurement
The site measures itself with cookies it built, not a third party's. One holds a random id for up to 400 days and one marks a visit for 30 minutes; together they count views, visits, returning visitors, the country and region a visit came from, and which models get looked at and downloaded. They hold only that random id: no name, no email, no IP address, and they never follow you to another site. The counts live in our own storage and are kept indefinitely; a copy goes to PostHog, the statistics dashboard we use, under a one-way code derived from the id, never the id itself. Global Privacy Control is honored: with it on, the cookies are removed and views are counted anonymously. Clearing cookies makes you a brand-new anonymous visitor; we keep no way to look you up.
Tips and paid orders
If you leave a tip at checkout, or buy a model that has a price, payment is handled by Stripe. We never see or store your card details. Stripe keeps the payment record (the amount, the date, and the email you give it for the receipt), and we keep what we need of it to meet our bookkeeping obligations.
Downloads
Model files are served from a content delivery network. The CDN sees the same request information as any web server (your IP address and browser) in order to deliver the file. Nothing about the download is linked to you personally.
Children
The site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top of this page will be updated. Material changes will be noted on the home page for a reasonable period.
